Taking Classes at Another Institution (Transient Study)
Transient students are UNC Charlotte degree-seeking students who are also taking courses at another college (typically during summer terms). UNC Charlotte is considered to be the home institution and the other school at which students are taking courses is the host institution. Students are required to obtain approval for transient study prior to taking any outside courses. Please see this transient study webpage for details about how to request a permit for Transient Study. More information can be found here.
Students should be aware that all Data Science courses MUST be completed at Charlotte and will not be approved to be taken at another institution.
Attempt Policy
Students are allowed to take all major courses twice in order to achieve an acceptable grade for the program. In order for a student to enroll in a course that you are currently enrolled in or have taken in the past, you must reach out to your academic advisor for permission. A withdrawal from a course does not count as an attempt. Students will be evaluated individually to see if a third attempt will be allowed.
Grade Replacement
Undergraduate students may replace up to two (2) courses (maximum of 8 hours) for grade replacement. Both grades will be reflected on the transcript. However, the higher of the two grades will be used in calculation of the GPA.
